Antioxidants, as it is stated in some studies, are believed to bind modified oxygen molecules that have been identified as having a damaging effect on cells to which they attach themselves. Theoretically, the ability of one substance to bind another harmful substance in the body before the latter can do any damage on the cellular level is worthy of the inclusion of antioxidants in your everyday diet. After all, this ounce of prevention may amount to a pound of cure when it comes to all the illnesses the modified oxygen molecules are said to be causing. Sometimes these modified oxygen molecules are also referred to as free radicals. Considering that there is no way to avoid the free radicals from entering the body, from freely coursing through our systems, and from attempting to attach themselves to the various cells in the body, it is understandable that antioxidants may be considered by many to be a panacea without equal.
